In April I had the privilege of spending a day with the L family in Florida. Mom and I had exchanged emails, and I already felt like family by the time I made my way to their house early in the morning.
By the end of the day we were friends. And even before I had finalized the photo galleries from our day together, I was back at their house with my little girls, and they both are still talking about our time with new friends.
At the end of this post you'll find a movie from our day together. As you'll be able see from the movie and these pictures, the Day in the Life Documentary Sessions are regular days.
Sometimes families choose a weekday, and sometimes we do a weekend day - like this time. Papa was home on Saturday, and the L family stayed busy all day long. It was such a fun day!

So what happens after you inquire about a Day in the Life Documentary Session?
- I send you a very detailed letter explaining how the day works and what the cost of the session is. There are no surprises later. The Day in the Life Sessions start at $1,299, but in the fall the pricing will be tweaked a bit. (PS. Want this spring's pricing? Book now for the fall.)
- Included in your session is my travel to your home (within 1.5 hrs drive), my time at your house, usually 13-15 hrs, and my time going through the thousands of images taken during the day, hand-editing them (it usually takes 2-4 weeks). With the best 100 images (I call them the Story Gallery) I make a movie like this one for you. I also send you a link to view the Story Gallery images, and a link to view the Full Gallery, which is about 500 images from the day, including the Story Gallery.
I highly recommend all my Day in the Families buy a professionally printed photo book (so gorgeous!!!) I make from the Story Gallery images. Or you can purchase a wooden keepsake box with the prints (also very beautiful!). Both Story Gallery and Full Gallery full resolution files are also available for purchase, and you can order a la carte enlargements as well.
My husband and I deeply regret we don't have anything like this from the time our quadruplets were little, and even from the time our fifth child came along. If I could go back, I would tell myself to invest in photos, and to document all the little things and routines we had. I have forgotten so much.
This is why I am so passionate now about documenting family life. I blinked, and my first babies are now eighteen years old.
